2010 Awards - And Predictions...
06 Dec 2010
It's nearing the end of 2010, and not that we have much sway in the Irish Market, but I would personally like to put forward my favourite sites of 2010 - from a design / management / development point of view, and a few short predictions for 2011. Comment and let me know if you agree!
Some Sites / Profiles I Liked This Year...
-
Best Facebook For Business:

Have To Agree With Web Awards (Most Beautiful Website In Ireland): -
My Favourite News Site (the revamp is really good - honest journalism online too): -
Best Newcomer (been around for a while, but really is the future for online video): -
Social / Entertainment Site: -
Best Government Site (In my opinion of course!):
My 2011 Predictions
- Social Media Will Take Off For Business
This year will probably see more businesses move online with social media. now 30% of our clients are using Social Media for business. There will be an increase in the use of social media for customer support and CRM. - A Major Security Breach With Social Media
With the increase in people using social media, it is almost inevitable at this stage that there will be some form of security risk among the biggest players in the market. This will probably lead to a change in attitude to how people use social media, especially social networks. Best advice is to start double-checking information you have online. - Increased Tax Rates Will Lead To More Online Focus
I imagine that really smart businesses will start to sell goods in different European countries to avoid high tax rates in Ireland, especially MNC's based in Ireland.
- Increased Usage Of Online Banking / Finance
With banks like National Irish Bank reducing branch numbers, and the constant push of most banks to get their customers online for customer support and transactions, there should eventually be a national swing in using online banking. However admittedly, usability still remains an issue with several banks online interfaces.
